ode to overall shorts

  
after 5th grade and some friendly humiliation i vowed that i would never return to overall shorts. but here we are. and how could i have doubted their awesomeness? one part cute, one part practical, they make me want to climb trees and channel dennis the menace. dear overall shorts, you are now a summer staple.

a few days ago, alex insisted that i pose pin up style to show off this white sweater. i retaliated by demanding that he pose as well. nice sexy face, huh? obviously i win because i get to blog about the whole thing. right?

in other news, la lupe (9th & federal) raised the price of taco tuesday tacos to $1.50. I know we are in a 'recession,' but seriously? breaks my heart.

too many rompers

  

my romper collection is getting out of hand! i'm also discovering that they have one terrible consequence- very difficult to go to the bathroom in! it's not so much of a problem until i've had one drink too many and have to become completely undressed to pee. Let's just say, there have been some close calls.  Not a sermon, just a warning. TMI?

I picked up this little cow suit last weekend. Oh how I wish it were bigger. I brought it home just in case and managed to try it on, but it was a sight not decent to be in public. 

It's for the tiniest of girls, but I know there must be one of you out there that needs a cow print swimsuit as much as I.  It's also never been worn, still has tags attached.

i found a bathing suit!

whew! finally found a vintage maillot for the right price. had to go across the bridge to jersey to scrounge it up. can't wait to get to the beach and rock it. atlantic city anyone?

zoos

alex hanging out with an emu back in december when I had just returned from japan. his hair is so long! I hate the idea of zoos but I always have fun when I go. Animals are so silly looking most of the time, ya know? I want to go peep on some grizzly bears and camels. 

Here is an outfit I might wear to the zoo.

i cut off most of my hair

this morning, i had this much hair.

eeeeeeep. 

the hairdresser was very sweet and convinced me that a pixie would be too much of a shock, so i ended up with this short bob thing. i look kind of/exactly like a playmobil. it's going to look different after i wash it, since she flat ironed it, and i'm crossing my fingers that my waves don't go totally nuts.

and with a mustache. 

i might trim off those funny pointy ends in the front.

it's going to take getting used to for sure. but i feel free. no more ouchies when special people run their hands through my hair and then can't get said hand out. no more hairs stuck in zippers, no more sweaty neck. no more (well, less) tangles, no more hair dangling in my lunch (messy eater).

I'm on the hunt for the perfect vintage one piece swimsuit (maillot if you want to be fancy).

The perfect swimsuit entails: low back, sweetheart front, bottom somewhere between shorts and skirt, a cute pattern and maybe a few ruffles. 

would it be strange to wear a fluttery swim cap in this day and age?

it was italian market festival weekend, so 9th st, around the corner from me, was blocked off to traffic for several blocks and filled with people, food, festivities, and a couple crappy bands

i enjoyed a funnel cake and almost bought a banzai tree, but decided i'm not ready to replace my little plant. anyway i've been spending too much lately and need to chill out. yesterday went to a flea market and got some goodies that i don't really need, like a kids cowboy book from 1949 and an egg shaped salt and pepper shaker. to add to my collection of things that look like eggs, obvi.

action shorts... in action

i love the heat! i'm all about shorty short shorts for summer '09. as an awkward adolescent i used to be a little self conscious about how pale my skin is, but now i'm owning it. guess that comes with growin' up.  i'm real into buying white things lately, this white top is new (from a flea market last weekend) and those are the woven white oxfords i ordered from etsy. so in love!
