pretty lazy day, visited some yard sales, nothing much of interest. made a smoothie and watched Henry Fool. Would recommend it if you are into weird literary dramas and/or Parker Posey. I am in love with netflix's instant feature.

having a sort of weird day, so i painted my nails a lilac color. always makes me feel better to have freshly lacquered finger tips.

i sometimes read jezebel, and they were really knocking sofia for doing this colaboration, seeing as we're in a 'recession.' but that's just annoying smack talk. especially since the shoes & bags look amazing. not that i can even think of affording one, but amazing none the less.

I thought I was going to the beach in charleston, but that has been pushed back a bit, and changed to delaware and/or atlantic city. I'm also going to have to learn how to sneak into hotel spa pools.

flip flop dilemma: - i currently don't have any flip flops, i have sworn them off as too lazy.

these, sandals are basically a marriage between flip flops and gladiators, from forever21. pretty cheap (at $7.50) but i hate paying shipping and it's hit or miss that i'll find them in a store  (plus they don't have any stores in philly). eek i'm too picky. What are your summer sandals?

the uniform project

it is Sheena's blog about wearing the same black dress every day for a year (?!) but styling it totally differently. it's some how for a good cause, but all that aside, she's got great style.

also, after reading up a bit, i found out that her friend designed and made the 7 identical dresses for her, which seem to me to be the perfect LBD:

The fashion void that is DC has a fantastic listing and evaluation of shops in and around the DC area. A lot of them you need a car to get to, but that also means they are less picked over by ahem, 'hipsters.'

I have a couple pairs of shorts but none of them are high enough in the waist! It's hard to find ones in thrift stores that don't bulge all over the place or give you that dreaded 'mom pants' bottom.

I've been pretty obsessed with Japan and Japanese stuff for a while, sometimes I think it's weird to be so into a culture that's not my own

my bedside table is more a bedside pile, starting with some hard cover books. a glass of water with a green straw, note book, pencil, inerview magazine, netflix. my room needs straightening up.

a couple dresses and an attache from a thrift store. there was a typewriter i really want but i didn't have enough cash and the store was closing. i'm going back for it tomorrow! crossing my fingers it will still be there.

tough one. i've been trying to be less attached to material objects, especially clothing, so that i could clear out my older stuff for new old stuff. i'm pretty into a vintage navy daisy print dress i got a couple weeks ago. also my commes des garcon shirt which had been missing for a couple months turned up, i was pretty happy about that, got it on my last day in tokyo.

jenny lewis

the other night i saw jenny lewis's solo show, she is so so incredible. i like a lot of music but seeing shows is always a pretty exhausting experience, standing during the opening bands which are never good, it always gets hot and there's drunk people pushing you around trying to get a better view in front of you, etc. by the end of most shows i'm tired and maybe cranky. but at the end of jenny's set i didn't even mind that some girl's enormous and disinterested boyfriend had positioned himself in front of my view, or that the friendly but tipsy girl next to me stepped on my foot with her high heeled boot. i could have stood there for another hour if only jenny would keep playing!

oh, and she's got mad cute outfits to boot.
