i'm heading to dc for a few days, to mainly to attend a friend's grad party and hang with my parents. temporary blog hiatus until i'm back in philly.

things i like doing in dc in the summer:

paddle boating on the tidal basin

visiting the awakening on hains point- there's also a mini golf nearby i played about 1000 times as a kid

the air & space museum

the zoo

also i've been craving ethiopian food.. and thrifting.. and i'll try to take lots of pictures!

i've sort of been ignoring my skirts lately, so i thought it was about time to bust one out. sometimes i'm like dang, i dress so simply and boring. but that's just me! i'm not really much for accessorizing.

i've had these shoes for a couple months but wore them once before the sole separated from the left shoe. i never made it to a cobbler (i love that word), but a guy at a party the other weekend had some shoe goo on him and totally fixed em up for me! it probably wont last forever, but i can finally wear them out again!

oh heat wave, you are too hot! and too bright to keep my eyes open too, which makes outfit pics troublesome. it's not even june yet! lets take things a little slower, hm?

by the way, this is my ultimate summer dress, and i've been having the hardest time getting a good photo of it! i'm pretty sure it's from the 60s. light weight, pink, no sleeves.. everything about it is just perfect for summer time.

are you guys going on any trips this summer??

my parents are going to europe for 2 weeks in august and they said i can use my mom's car while they're away! holy road trip! i'm hoping to go to st. louis and make a few stops on the way.

alex's band is also planning a 5 week road trip that will end right before i get the car, so it might be sort of exhausting... but right now i cannot wait to get out onto the road! any suggestions of the best stops between philly and st. louis?

today is super hot! we went to take outfit photos in a park in the neighborhood, but it wasn't really as photogenic as i'd hoped. i got some ahem, exercise, out of it though...

when i was at work earlier, i got 'recruited' by an american apparel lady, so i was like yess outfit is validated. but seriously, i interviewed there a couple months ago, and they have such weird hiring policies that i don't have any expectations. do any of you guys work for them or have stories? i'd be curious to hear..

i was trying on some things from my shop, and pleasantly surprised that this little number fit me! so i decided to borrow it for the day. it's a little on the short side, okay, a lot on the short side, but it's too hot out for tights today, so i'll just have to keep my knees together when i sit, hah.

i've been digging the ankle sock trend lately, especially bobby socks. some how i only have about 5 pairs of matching socks, all pink or black. need to remedy this soon, there goes todays paycheck. socks are one of the only things i won't buy used. (yeah, that means i'll buy used panties. only if they're older than 50 and really pretty though!)

found this little guy on a cute tree lined street near one of my favorite bars.

yesterday i found a cool orange suitcase on the sidewalk, and maybe i'm a total weirdo but i took it, and inside was an even cooler fancy faux old style telephone, a pocket-watch, and a few weird rings. one mans trash, as they say! and i've been hunting for a pocket watch for a while now! i'll show the stuff in a day or two.

okay so i'm re-wearing the apc dress only a few days after i last wore it but who cares, it's totally my favorite new dress. and this is my new raincoat i found for $2! it reminds me of a raincoat my best friend from childhood had, with those same white ducks inside, but hers was yellow i think.

so this was not a very summer-y post, but how are all of your summers going so far? it's weird to sleep in everyday! i need to do more things that make me feel productive, so i am helping produce a friend's documentary. also, you guys probably read style rookie, i'm thinking of trying to make something to submit to the 'fashion film' contest she's judging... collaboration anyone?

found this huge mural. didja know philly is famous for its thousands of murals? this one is a winter scene, but you can't really tell from the corner i'm standing in.

it's super muggy, and supposed to rain all week. but at least i can bust out my new rain coat soon!
